Workers reaching for supplies at a Downingtown, Pennsylvania Lowe's got the surprise of their lives when they heard tiny mews coming from high above their heads.
Seven kittens from two different litters had been living atop boxes on a warehouse shelf in the Garden Center. Store employees immediately called Lucky Dawg Rescue to help get the little ones to safety.
Lisa Newton from the shelter arrived expecting maybe one or two strays. Instead, she watched as workers used a forklift to carefully retrieve all seven kittens from their unlikely home. "One of the litters, you could tell that's where the mom had delivered them," Newton told WPVI News.
For the kittens, the world consisted entirely of cardboard boxes surrounded by a dangerous drop to the concrete below. They watched giant humans moving around beneath them, completely unaware of the tiny families growing above the paint cans and fertilizer.

Store employees say two female stray cats regularly visit the Garden Center. Both apparently felt safe enough to raise their babies there, though the mothers have yet to be caught.
Sunny's Take
The seven kittens now have names that honor their unusual birthplace: Forklift, Herb, Pallet, Planter, Grass, Lowe, and Rose. They're getting the care they need at Lucky Dawg Rescue and will soon be ready for their forever homes.
The shelter plans to return to catch the mother cats for spaying to prevent more surprise litters. Meanwhile, these lucky kittens traded their precarious perch for warm beds and people who adore them.
Seven tiny lives got a fresh start thanks to observant workers and a rescue team ready to help.
