8-Year-Old's Letter Brings MLB Star Back to Toronto

When eight-year-old Brooke Scherzer wanted her dad to stay with the Toronto Blue Jays, she took matters into her own hands and wrote the team a letter.

"Dear Blue Jays, I am so sorry that you didn't win the World Series," Brooke wrote after last season. "I hope my dad is back on the team."

The letter worked. Max Scherzer, a veteran pitcher, just signed a one-year deal to return to Toronto, and his wife Erica shared Brooke's touching note on social media Thursday morning.

In her letter, Brooke explained why the family loved their time in Canada. "My whole family loves spending time in Toronto with our dad. We loved the aquarium, CN Tower and of course, the stadium."

Brooke isn't the only player's daughter influencing major baseball decisions this season. When Kazuma Okamoto was choosing which team to join, he laid out all 30 MLB team logos in front of his daughter. She pointed straight at the Blue Jays.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who just signed a $500 million contract with Toronto, said one of the hardest moments came when his daughter Vlaimel asked him, "Daddy, are we going to stay in Toronto?"
