900 Northern Ireland Students Celebrate Graduation Wins

Nearly 900 students walked across the stage at Belfast's Waterfront Hall this week, transforming years of hard work into diplomas that could change their lives forever.

South Eastern Regional College held its annual graduation ceremony in September, honoring full-time and part-time students alongside Higher-Level Apprentices. Families cheered as certificates were presented, marking the end of one journey and the start of countless new possibilities.

BBC Radio Ulster's Cate Conway delivered the guest speech, sharing how her own career took unexpected turns after graduation. Her message resonated with graduates facing their own uncertain but exciting futures.

The numbers tell an incredible story of commitment. SERC maintains a 99.2% achievement rate for full-time Higher Education students, proving that when colleges invest in their students, those students deliver results.

Principal Tommy Martin reminded graduates that their success didn't happen in isolation. "None of us succeeds alone," he told the crowd, encouraging students to thank the family members, lecturers, employers and mentors who supported them along the way.

Among the graduates were Caroline Shirlow from Lisburn and Annemarie Murphy from Strangford, who earned their Level 4 Diploma in Reflexology for the Complementary Therapist. Nyree Taylor from Dundonald received her Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership, ready to lead in her field.
