Abu Dhabi and Sanofi Launch AI Vaccine Innovation Hub

Abu Dhabi is taking a major step forward in global health security by partnering with Sanofi to create a state-of-the-art vaccine innovation center. The facility will harness artificial intelligence and mRNA technology to speed up how quickly new vaccines can be developed and delivered to patients.

The Department of Health Abu Dhabi signed the agreement with the biopharmaceutical giant during the BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego. This partnership builds on collaboration that started in 2025 and signals the emirate's growing role as a global healthcare innovation hub.

The planned center will operate within Abu Dhabi's Health, Endurance, Longevity and Medicine (HELM) Cluster. It brings together everything needed to turn scientific breakthroughs into real-world solutions: AI-powered vaccine design, clinical testing, advanced manufacturing, regulatory support, and academic expertise all in one place.

Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, emphasized how the integrated approach will accelerate progress. "We are bringing together AI, scientific research, clinical expertise, advanced manufacturing and regulation within a single ecosystem designed to accelerate the journey from discovery to impact," she said.

Sanofi's Baptiste de Clarens highlighted how rapidly technology is transforming vaccine development. Advances in artificial intelligence and mRNA technology are opening doors that seemed impossible just years ago, making it possible to design and test vaccines faster than ever before.

Beyond Abu Dhabi's borders, this center could reshape how the world responds to future health emergencies. The combination of AI-enabled design and mRNA technology means vaccines for new threats could potentially be developed in months instead of years.

The initiative will also nurture local scientific talent, creating opportunities for researchers and healthcare professionals in the region. Abu Dhabi showcased this center alongside other breakthrough projects in genomics, gene editing, and rare disease research at the convention.
