AI Creates More Jobs Than It Cuts, Global Study Finds

🤯 Mind Blown

A new study of 2,050 business leaders across 10 countries reveals AI is creating more jobs than eliminating them, with 77% of firms reporting net hiring gains. The findings challenge fears that artificial intelligence will trigger mass unemployment.

The robots aren't stealing our jobs after all. They're actually creating them.

A groundbreaking study from Snowflake surveyed 2,050 business and technology leaders across 10 countries and found that 77% of companies are seeing AI-driven job growth. Only 46% reported job losses, suggesting AI is adding more positions than it eliminates.

Even more encouraging: among companies experiencing both hiring and cuts, 69% said AI's overall effect on their workforce has been positive. The technology is reshaping work, not destroying it.

The biggest winners are technical teams. IT operations saw the strongest gains, with 56% of organizations adding jobs in that area. Cybersecurity followed at 46%, and software development at 38%.

The shift isn't painless. Entry-level positions felt the strongest impact, with 63% of job losses concentrated there. Middle management saw 46% of cuts. Customer service and data analytics teams also experienced significant role reductions.

In Australia and New Zealand, the trend holds strong. Three-quarters of organizations in the region reported AI-driven job creation, while half saw some role reductions. Still, the math tips positive.

Glenn McPherson from Snowflake Australia said the data should ease concerns. "While job losses are always hard to come to terms with, the amount of jobs created across the region is a welcome surprise and something that should hopefully help to quell some of the fears emerging around AI," he explained.

The research also revealed just how embedded AI has become in daily work. Nearly half of all code written in organizations now comes from AI tools. Early adopters are seeing real returns, with 92% reporting positive ROI and planning to dedicate about 22% of technology budgets to AI next year.

The Bright Side

The key to success isn't just adopting AI. It's adopting it thoughtfully. Companies seeing the biggest gains are those integrating AI deeply into core operations rather than treating it as an experiment. They're pairing ambitious AI goals with strong data foundations and proper governance.

Different roles will experience different impacts. Some positions will see dramatic productivity boosts, while others may struggle to adapt. The winners will be those who learn to work alongside AI tools effectively, using them to amplify their skills rather than compete against them.

The future of work looks different than many feared, and the early evidence suggests it might be brighter than we thought.
