AI Jobs in Singapore Pay Fresh Grads Up to $90K a Year

🤯 Mind Blown

Fresh graduates landing AI roles in Singapore are starting at up to $90,000 annually, as salaries in artificial intelligence grow five times faster than overall wages. Companies are racing to hire AI talent, creating hundreds of opportunities for both new and mid-career professionals.

While some tech companies announce layoffs in the name of AI, workers actually building these systems in Singapore are celebrating something very different: paychecks that keep growing.

Salaries for AI roles jumped 15 to 25 percent in the past year, with fresh graduates now earning between $70,000 and $90,000 right out of university. That growth rate is five times faster than Singapore's overall wage increase of 4.9 percent in 2025.

"Companies are racing not just to experiment with AI, but to put it to work at scale in their businesses," said Kirsty Poltock, country manager at recruitment firm Robert Walters Singapore. The demand spans AI engineering, machine learning, data science, product management, and governance roles.

The hiring boom is real and visible. A June search on MyCareersFuture revealed 181 AI engineer positions, 50 machine learning roles, and 13 data science openings. LinkedIn showed similar numbers with hundreds of active listings across AI fields.

Major players are investing heavily in Singapore's AI talent pool. OpenAI committed over $300 million in May to build an Applied AI Lab that will create more than 200 technical roles. Chinese tech giant Alibaba opened a global AI innovation hub in Singapore in 2025.

The talent shortage is acute. Nanyang Technological University, ranked number one globally for AI courses, graduated just 83 students with AI and data science degrees in 2025. However, enrollment has surged to 558 students for the current academic year, signaling relief ahead.

Chinese tech firms are offering PhD holders up to $200,000 annually to work in China, but Singapore roles remain attractive for different reasons. Local employers focus on commercial applications like improving productivity and customer experience rather than pure research.

The Ripple Effect

The AI boom isn't just benefiting fresh graduates with computer science degrees. Mid-career professionals can pivot into the field through targeted training and upskilling programs offered by local institutions.

Yuan Yijia, founder of AI recruitment agency Dada Consultants, explained that when senior AI leaders join Singapore companies, they build teams around them. Those teams need applied AI engineers, data analysts, and product specialists. Singaporean graduates and career changers can fill these roles with the right skill development.

Top AI experts commanding close to $350,000 in total compensation create ecosystems of opportunity. Entry routes include bachelor's degrees in computer science, data science, mathematics, or engineering, combined with practical project work and internships involving AI tools.

The message from recruiters is clear: AI roles take longer to fill because candidates are scarce, not because requirements are impossible. A strong bachelor's degree plus hands-on experience often suffices for most positions, with PhDs reserved only for top-tier research roles.

Singapore's AI sector is building something rare in today's economy: a field where demand vastly outpaces supply, creating genuine opportunities for those willing to learn.
