Alert Resident Helps Police Recover Gun and Stolen Car

When a resident spotted something suspicious near a popular park in Gombe, Nigeria, they made a choice that would lead to two major wins for community safety.

The concerned citizen discovered a Beretta pistol hidden beneath a stone near Brave Rock Sport/Recreational Park in the New GRA area. Instead of walking away, they immediately contacted local police.

Officers responded quickly to the scene and recovered the firearm, which had an empty magazine. Detectives are now working to trace who owned the weapon and why it was concealed in such a public location.

In a separate but equally encouraging operation, the Gombe State Police Command recovered a stolen 2010 Toyota Camry. Officers from the Police Control Room and the Dukku Division coordinated their response after receiving information about the vehicle.

When the suspect realized police were closing in, he abandoned the car and fled. Inside, officers found a bunch of fabricated master keys and other suspicious items believed to have been used in multiple vehicle thefts across the area.
