Amazon Volunteers Hit 500,000 Acts of Service in 2025
Amazon employees volunteered over 500,000 times across 55 countries in 2025, fighting hunger, teaching students, and helping disaster victims. From cleaning polluted lakes in India to delivering groceries to 2,000 families monthly in Washington, they're turning corporate volunteering into real community impact.
More than half a million times in 2025, Amazon employees chose to spend their free time helping strangers.
The tech giant's workforce participated in over 500,000 volunteer activities across 55 countries last year, tackling everything from wildfire recovery in California to ecosystem restoration in India. Over 23,000 employees stepped up as volunteer coordinators, partnering with local organizations to identify where help was needed most.
When disasters struck, Amazon volunteers showed up fast. More than 10,000 team members helped communities recover from devastating events worldwide in 2025 alone.
They deployed drones for safety assessments after California wildfires, sorted emergency supplies after floods in Texas and Mexico, and cleared debris in Washington state. After back-to-back typhoons slammed the Philippines, Amazon partnered with Rise Against Hunger to distribute blankets, sleeping mats, and groceries to affected families.
The food insecurity fight drew the biggest volunteer response. More than 60,000 Amazon employees worldwide organized over 4,500 events addressing hunger in their communities.
In Washington, Amazon's partnership with United Way of King County uses the company's delivery expertise for good. The program now delivers meals directly to over 2,000 families monthly through a dozen local food bank partners.

"We can deliver groceries directly to households in need quickly, reliably, and with dignity," said Sara Seelmeyer, associate director of Ending Hunger at United Way of King County. The same logistics that get packages to doorsteps now fight food insecurity, transporting food from suppliers to food banks to families' homes.
Environmental projects brought unexpected wins. At Siddheshwar Lake in Thane, India, volunteers assembled floating platforms and planted canna indica, a hardy aquatic plant whose root system filters pollutants naturally.
The engineered wetlands improved water quality, reduced nutrient pollution, and created habitat for fish and wildlife. Similar Amazon initiatives in Bengaluru and Hyderabad brought thousands more volunteers together to restore urban waterways.
Students got support too. In Northern Virginia, over 65 Amazon volunteers welcomed 120 university students to headquarters for Cloud Connect, where they built AI applications, pitched ideas Shark Tank style, and paired with senior leaders as mentors.
In Seattle, more than 150 volunteers stepped into classrooms to teach students how artificial intelligence works.
The Ripple Effect
Amazon's 6,100 Community Ambassadors work directly with local organizations year round to identify needs and connect colleagues with opportunities. Since 2017, the company has donated over 26 million relief items to communities impacted by more than 200 disasters worldwide.
While May marks the company's official Global Month of Volunteering, these employees prove that building stronger communities happens every single day.
