Andhra Pradesh Plans Fire Station in Every Constituency

When fire emergencies strike, every minute counts. Andhra Pradesh is making sure help arrives faster by planning a fire station in each of the state's 175 Assembly constituencies.

The expansion is already showing results. The state has opened multiple new fire stations and added more fire trucks since the Alliance government took power. Response times have dropped to 10-15 minutes in areas with new stations.

Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha shared the progress while inaugurating a new fire station building in Addanki town, Prakasam district. The facility cost ₹2.25 crore to build and includes a new fire tender vehicle worth ₹75 lakh.

The Centre is backing the initiative with ₹210 crore in funding. The state has already spent ₹110 crore purchasing modern fire equipment and vehicles to serve communities across Andhra Pradesh.

The Addanki station shows why this matters. Operating since 2013 from a temporary shed, it now serves six surrounding areas. In the past two years, firefighters there responded to 141 emergencies, saving ₹3.75 crore worth of property and rescuing eight people.

The old station struggled with outdated equipment and limited space. The new building gives firefighters the tools and workspace they need to serve their community effectively.

The Ripple Effect

Better fire stations mean more than faster response times. They protect homes, businesses, and livelihoods in growing towns and rural areas that previously lacked adequate coverage.

The state is also improving roads to help emergency vehicles reach accident sites more quickly. This coordination between departments multiplies the impact of each new fire station.

Communities that once waited 30 minutes or more for help now get assistance in half that time. For families facing fires or accidents, those saved minutes can mean the difference between minor damage and total loss.

When emergency services reach every corner of a state, everyone sleeps a little easier knowing help is nearby.
