Angels' Bottom Four Hitters Make Baseball History vs Dodgers

Four baseball players who usually bat last in their lineup just achieved something no team has done in over 100 years.

The four players started the game a perfect 10-for-10 from their spots at the bottom of the batting order. Their .867 batting average from the 6-9 spots marked the highest performance by those positions since at least 1900, according to baseball records.

Sebastián Rivero led the charge with a perfect 5-for-5 day that included a double and six RBIs. He entered the game with just eight career RBIs across 67 games and had been hitting only .133 this season with six hits in 45 attempts.

"I woke up tired today, but sometimes those are your best days," Rivero said with a smile after the game. "I'm happy I was able to help the team out."

Nick Madrigal turned patience into power, drawing three walks while seeing 37 total pitches across his at-bats. He fouled off 17 pitches, the most by an Angels player since 1997, and became only the third player this year to win three automated ball-strike challenges in a single game.

Those lengthy at-bats frustrated Dodgers pitchers and set the table for his teammates. One 14-pitch walk in the second inning included two overturned strike calls and helped spark a rally that knocked the Dodgers' starting pitcher out after just 1 1/3 innings.

Jo Adell contributed a towering two-run home run that traveled 433 feet with an exit velocity of 112 mph. Jose Siri went 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs, adding to the historic day.
