A two-week-old baby is home safe today after Arizona deputies performed a dramatic roadside rescue that saved his life.

On November 10, frantic parents dialed 911 around 3:30 p.m. as they raced toward Interstate 17 in Yavapai County. Their newborn had stopped breathing properly, and despite the father performing infant CPR for 15 minutes, the baby was still struggling.

Deputies located the family's car within minutes. Bodycam footage shows them sprinting toward the vehicle as the father rushed out, cradling his tiny son.

The father had managed to get the baby to cry briefly using back blows and sternum rubs, but the infant was breathing raggedly. A deputy immediately took the child and began lifesaving measures.

The video captures tense moments as the deputy performed small chest compressions, then flipped the baby over for firm back slaps. The techniques cleared saliva from the infant's airway, and the baby began to cry—a sound that must have felt like music to everyone present.
