Arkansas Legend Anthony Lucas Named Fayetteville Coach

Fayetteville High School just landed one of Arkansas's most accomplished football minds to lead its storied program.

The school announced Thursday that Anthony Lucas, an Arkansas Razorback legend and Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductee, will take over as head football coach. Lucas isn't just bringing star power. He's bringing proven results.

During his time at Pulaski Academy, Lucas posted an impressive 48-16 record and won three state championships. His success on the sidelines mirrors his playing days, when he starred as a receiver for the Razorbacks before earning his Hall of Fame induction in 2020.

"New chapter, new standard. Same love for the game," Lucas shared in the school's announcement. "My family and I are grateful for the opportunity."

Lucas takes the reins from Casey Dick, himself a former Razorback quarterback who went 55-25 during his tenure with the Bulldogs. The Purple Dogs finished last season 7-5 and ranked No. 10 in the state.

Athletic director Steven Janksi praised the hire, highlighting what sets Lucas apart beyond wins and losses. "His heart for people, passion for the game and commitment to building young men make him the right leader for our program and our community," Janksi said.
