Armenia Creates 281,000 Jobs Since 2018, Salaries Double

Armenia just hit a milestone that most countries only dream about: nearly 300,000 new jobs created in seven years.

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan announced at a parliamentary hearing that Armenia's employment numbers climbed from 541,428 jobs in April 2018 to 822,662 by December 2025. That's a 52% increase in positions for a country of just three million people.

The job creation came under the administration of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who took office in 2018 following widespread public protests demanding change. Since then, the government has focused on economic reform and transparency, including efforts to formalize previously unreported employment.

Torosyan emphasized that even if some of the growth simply represents jobs moving out of the shadow economy into official records, the impact remains significant. Workers with formally registered positions gain access to labor protections, social benefits, and retirement security they previously lacked.

The numbers tell an even more compelling story when it comes to wages. The average monthly salary jumped from 173,000 Armenian drams (about $430) in April 2018 to 401,000 drams (roughly $995) in December 2025. That's more than double in seven years, outpacing inflation and putting real purchasing power into people's pockets.

The minister took a subtle jab at political opponents during his announcement, noting that "while some promise 300,000 jobs, we have already achieved this—even without announcing it." The comment suggests the government prioritized delivering results over campaign rhetoric.
