Atlanta Hawks Honor Magic City with Theme Night

The Atlanta Hawks are throwing a party that perfectly captures their city's unique spirit, turning a regular season game into a celebration of culture, community, and some seriously famous chicken wings.

On March 16, when the Orlando Magic come to town, the Hawks will honor Magic City, Atlanta's iconic establishment that's become a cornerstone of hip-hop culture and Black entrepreneurship. The team is going all in with special food, music, exclusive merchandise, and a halftime performance by Atlanta native T.I.

The celebration connects directly to "Magic City: An American Fantasy," a five-part STARZ docuseries that explored the venue's profound impact on Atlanta's cultural landscape. Hawks principal owner Jami Gertz, who produced the series along with her filmmaking career, wanted to bring that story to the arena.

"This collaboration and theme night is very meaningful to me after all the work that we did to put together 'Magic City: An American Fantasy,'" Gertz said. "The iconic Atlanta institution has made such an incredible impact on our city and its unique culture."

Fans attending the game will get to taste the establishment's legendary lemon pepper wings, including two special versions. One bears the name of former Hawks guard Lou Williams, cementing the long-standing connection between Atlanta's basketball team and the local cultural scene.

The night will also feature a special live pregame podcast recording exploring Magic City's influence on music, culture, and sports. It's a recognition that Atlanta's identity extends far beyond the basketball court, woven into every aspect of the city's creative output.
