Aussie Teen Aiva Anagnostiadis Returns to Racing in Italy

Just months after injury forced her off the track, Australian teen racing driver Aiva Anagnostiadis is back behind the wheel and ready to compete in Italy.

The 18-year-old Victorian will race in the brand new GT4 Italy Series starting this weekend at Misano World Circuit. She's joining the Promodrive team to drive a BMW GT4-spec car, marking an exciting shift from the open-wheel racing she competed in last year.

Anagnostiadis made history in 2025 as the first Australian to score points in the F1 Academy championship. Her eighth-place finish at the season opener showed real promise for the young driver's future.

But her breakthrough season ended earlier than planned. Injury sidelined Anagnostiadis, forcing her to miss the final two championship weekends in Singapore and Las Vegas.

Now she's channeling that disappointment into determination. The GT4 series offers a fresh challenge with a completely different style of car, new teammates, and unfamiliar Italian circuits.

"After my first year in F1 Academy, moving to a BMW GT4 with a new team and new circuits is an exciting challenge," Anagnostiadis said. "It's a new experience and I'm ready to learn and push as hard as possible."

The GT4 Italy Series format adds another layer of complexity. Each 50-minute race requires two co-drivers who must both compete, testing teamwork as much as individual skill.

Anagnostiadis will partner with Italian driver Andrea Palazzo. Together they'll face four more rounds after this weekend, racing at legendary tracks like Mugello, Imola, and Monza through October.
