Barrie Golfers Raise $1,940 for Grieving Families

When 33 golfers gathered at North Swing Golf Lounge in Barrie on March 7, they weren't just swinging virtual clubs. They were raising hope for families navigating one of life's most heartbreaking experiences.

The second annual Bridget's Bunnies Golf Simulator Tournament raised $1,940 to support parents who have lost pregnancies or infants. The funds will help provide comfort kits and direct support to grieving families across the province.

"This golf tournament is a big swing for us, something different, and we're so grateful to the community and our sponsors for helping make it a success," said founder Theresa Morrison. Four local sponsors, including Mortgages with Geri, Good Wellness, Barrie Nissan, and real estate broker Kyla Vavala, made the event possible.

Bridget's Bunnies Pregnancy and Infant Loss Foundation has been supporting families since 2018. The charity is best known for its annual Bridget's Run event each October, which brings together communities across the province.

The golf simulator tournament represents a creative expansion of the foundation's fundraising efforts. By meeting people where they are, whether on running trails or virtual golf greens, Bridget's Bunnies creates multiple opportunities for community members to contribute.

The Ripple Effect

Every dollar raised extends beyond simple financial support. The comfort kits provided by Bridget's Bunnies offer grieving parents tangible reminders that they're not alone in their darkest moments.

These tournaments and runs create spaces where families can connect with others who understand their pain. Building community around shared loss transforms isolation into solidarity.

The foundation's next major event, Bridget's Run, is scheduled for October 17 at Centennial Beach Park. Participants can also join from their own communities wherever they are.
