The study modeled replacing 2 gigawatts of planned gas capacity with 18-hour battery systems. Beyond the €166 million in annual consumer savings, batteries offer flexibility gas plants can't match.

They respond to grid needs in milliseconds, stabilize frequency better, and produce zero emissions. As battery costs continue falling, the economic advantage grows stronger.
