Beau Greaves Wins Third Women's Matchplay at 22

When 22-year-old Beau Greaves needed it most, she threw a perfect 180 to match her opponent's maximum and turned the pressure into victory at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

The young darts star secured her third Women's World Matchplay title in four years, defeating Fallon Sherrock 6-5 in a thrilling last-leg decider. After letting a 5-3 lead slip away, Greaves found herself staring down Sherrock's 180 in the final leg.

"I'm not one to celebrate but I just felt the relief after winning," Greaves told reporters. "To hit that last dart was just an outpouring of relief."

The Doncaster native wasn't at her best that night, admitting she didn't play her "A-game." But champions find ways to win even on off nights, and Greaves proved exactly that by following her clutch 180 with a 145 setup before sealing the match with a 56 checkout.

Sherrock, who cruised to the final by dropping only one leg in earlier rounds, fell short of the championship for the third straight year. She had even knocked out defending champion Lisa Ashton 5-1 in the semifinals, but couldn't quite capture her first Matchplay title since the tournament's inaugural year in 2022.

In April, she became the first woman ever to win a PDC ranking title when she defeated Michael Smith. Two months earlier, she made headlines as the first woman to hit a nine-dart finish on the PDC ProTour, achieving the feat against Mensur Suljovic in February.

Now she's balancing two worlds, competing at the highest levels of both men's and women's professional darts. "Playing women is just a little bit different for me now. I just try and concentrate on the men's game," she explained, adding that returning to women's tournaments presents its own unique challenges.

At just 22 years old with three world titles already under her belt, Greaves represents something bigger than trophies. She's showing young athletes everywhere that barriers exist only until someone brave enough decides to break them.
