Bellevue University Wins First Apex Legends National Title

Bellevue University's esports team just achieved something they've been working toward for years: their first national championship in Apex Legends, one of the world's most competitive team-based games.

The Bruins dominated the Octane Collegiate League Season 4 Championship in May 2026, facing off against the top 30 college teams in the country. After entering Championship Sunday as the number one seed, they fought through intense competition to claim the title in a dramatic final match against Fisher College.

The championship format required teams to reach 60 points before becoming eligible to win with a first-place finish. Team captain Jason "Jukezy" Zajac led Bellevue to match point eligibility in Game 4 with a clutch 3-versus-1 performance that had teammates and fans celebrating.

When the final game arrived, both Bellevue and Fisher College stood on match point, meaning either team could claim victory. The Bruins eliminated Fisher in the championship's final engagement, securing the win their program had been chasing.
