Black Hawk Crew Stops 391 Pounds of Cocaine at Sea

A Black Hawk helicopter and marine patrol boats worked together to stop a suspected drug smuggling boat off Puerto Rico, seizing 391 pounds of cocaine in a dramatic mid-ocean interception.

On May 14, the U.S. Air and Marine Operations detected a 25-foot blue vessel carrying three people and suspicious packages near Puerto Rico's coast. Infrared footage captured the moment agents closed in on the boat.

As the Black Hawk circled overhead and patrol boats surrounded the vessel, the three men frantically threw bales overboard trying to destroy the evidence. But agents were ready.

The crew put their hands up as U.S. boats pulled alongside. Officers recovered all five bales from the water, containing what officials confirmed was 391 pounds of cocaine.
