Boaters Rescued by Good Samaritan in Lee County Waters

When disaster struck in the waters of South Matlacha Pass on Monday afternoon, a stranger became a hero for two boaters whose day took an unexpected turn.

A 15-foot boat carrying two people sank around 1:20 p.m. after a wave came over the stern and swamped the vessel. Within moments, both occupants were in the water near the popular Lee County waterway.

That's when a nearby boater spotted them and sprang into action. The Good Samaritan pulled both people from the water and safely transported them back to shore before emergency responders arrived.
