Nashua Neighbor Grabs Hose, Saves Home From Fire

When John Pellum and Carolyn Russell rounded the corner to their Nashua street, black smoke billowed from their property and flames consumed their garage. But what they didn't know was that a hero was already on the scene.

Their neighbor, Jonathan Paradise, had spotted the fire and sprinted down the street. Without hesitation, he grabbed the couple's garden hose and started spraying down the flames.

"It was just pure adrenaline at the time," Paradise said. "I just wanted to make sure it didn't reach the house."

The couple's Ring doorbell camera captured the whole thing. The footage shows Paradise working to control the blaze before firefighters arrived to finish the job.

His quick thinking made all the difference. The garage suffered serious damage, but the house only had smoke damage. Firefighters say Paradise's actions prevented the fire from spreading to the main structure.

When Russell approached him afterward, she had three words: "You're a lifesaver." She told him she owed him everything.

Paradise brushed off the praise with remarkable humility. "I told her she doesn't owe me anything," he said. "It's just what a good person should do."
