Bojangles just made charging your electric car as easy as grabbing a chicken biscuit. The beloved Southern restaurant chain installed its first EV charging station at its Savannah, Georgia location and plans to expand charging access across its entire 800-restaurant network in 23 states.
The Savannah station features four charging ports, mixing both Level 2 and DC fast chargers. That's the same setup Bojangles aims to install at each restaurant location, turning quick meal stops into convenient charging opportunities for EV drivers.
"We're turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel and enjoy a true Bojangles experience," said Richard Del Valle, the chain's Chief Information Officer. The company sees the shift coming and wants to meet customers where they're headed.
Bojangles joins a growing list of major retailers investing their own money in EV infrastructure this year. Walmart, Kroger, Shoprite, Wawa, Buc-ee's, and Love's have all announced charging station expansions. These aren't government mandates or subsidies driving the decision. These are businesses betting on electric vehicles because they see the economics working.

XLR8 America partnered with Bojangles to develop the charging network, along with Energy and Environmental Design Services. "Our philosophy is simple: charge where you park, not park where you charge," said Frank O'Connor, XLR8 America's CEO.
The Ripple Effect
When major chains invest private dollars in EV charging, they're doing more than adding amenities. They're building the confidence network that helps hesitant buyers take the electric plunge. Range anxiety fades when you know charging stations are becoming as common as drive-thrus.
The timing matters too. While federal NEVI funding has helped install public chargers, this wave of private investment shows the market has reached a tipping point. Companies wouldn't be spending their own money if they didn't see customers coming.
For EV drivers in the South and East Coast, the Bojangles network could become a game changer. Eight hundred locations means more options, more convenience, and more proof that electric vehicle infrastructure is spreading to every corner of America.
The future of road trips might just include a Bo-Berry Biscuit and a full battery.
