Brazil Offers $500K Grants for Climate Communication

The Institute for Climate and Society in Brazil just opened applications for a grant program that could change how millions of people connect with climate solutions.

The program offers individual grants between $200,000 and $500,000 for projects that transform complex climate information into messages that inspire real action. Instead of funding more research, the institute wants to help existing knowledge reach the people who need it most.

This isn't about creating awareness campaigns or publishing studies. The institute is looking for creative teams who can bridge the gap between what scientists know and what communities can do about climate change.

Eligible applicants include nonprofits, companies, consultancies, and grassroots movements across Brazil. Even collectives without formal registration can apply if they partner with an established organization to manage funds.

The program welcomes projects using artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and new communication formats to spread climate messages. Teams have up to 12 months to implement their ideas and one additional month for reporting results.

Applications are open until August 31, 2026, giving organizations plenty of time to develop strong proposals. The institute will shortlist up to 20 applicants after an initial review, then select final recipients based on detailed project plans.
