Brewers Set Franchise Record with 98th Win

The Milwaukee Brewers wrapped up a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, and it meant more than just another win. Their 3-0 victory gave them 98 wins this season, the most in franchise history, with six games still left to play.

Young star Jackson Chourio made his own piece of history during the game. The 22-year-old became the first player ever to achieve three 20-20 seasons before turning 23, combining power and speed in a way baseball fans have never seen before.

Manager Pat Murphy carefully managed ace pitcher Jacob Misiorowski during the game, limiting him to just three innings as part of a smart plan to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Misiorowski currently leads all of baseball in ERA, strikeouts, and several other categories, making him the frontrunner for the Cy Young Award.

The strategic rest didn't slow him down. He struck out four batters without allowing a run, pushing his season strikeout total past 247 and into second place in Brewers history.

Rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt delivered two run-scoring singles to provide the offense. Closer Trevor Megill finished off the Brewers' second straight shutout, something the team hadn't accomplished since July 2023.

Why This Inspires

The Brewers aren't the most experienced team in baseball, and they're not stacked with the highest-paid superstars. But they've shown what's possible when players come together as a true team.

"We're not the most talented. We're not the 'most' a lot of things," Murphy said after the game. "But they've proven they're a team, because it's hard to win Major League games."

The players understand they're building something special. Chourio called the group "incredible" and said being part of this record makes him proud.

With one more win or a Braves loss, Milwaukee will clinch a first-round playoff bye. Two more victories would give them 100 wins, something no National League Central team has achieved since the 2016 Cubs.

The players aren't getting ahead of themselves, though. "It's a stepping stone," Megill said. "We're not trying to be regular-season warriors."

They're saving their best for what comes next.
