Bride Dances Through CF Treatment on Her Wedding Night

When Dannika Evans knew she'd need her medical treatment during her wedding reception, she decided to turn it into a celebration instead of stepping away from the party.

The 20-year-old bride danced the night away at her June wedding in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, while wearing her high-frequency chest wall oscillation vest and nebulizer. Her husband Bo, 23, and their loved ones surrounded her on the dance floor as she completed the vital treatment that keeps her lungs clear.

Dannika lives with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that makes patients highly susceptible to lung infections. Thick mucus builds up in her lungs, requiring treatment with a special vibrating vest and breathing medication twice every day. She'd done her morning treatment before the ceremony and knew the evening session couldn't wait.

"Knowing that I had to do treatments the night of my wedding, doing them on the dance floor with everyone I love surrounding me seemed like the best option," Dannika told PEOPLE Magazine. "While energy was high, we had the time of our lives dancing the night away while I was shaking!"

She posted the moment to TikTok with the caption "CF doesn't stop no party ✨." The video quickly amassed 2.2 million views and thousands of supportive comments.

Why This Inspires

Many of the responses came from fellow CF patients, respiratory therapists, and parents of children with the disease. One viewer wrote, "As a CF patient myself I feel so much joy seeing other CF people sharing the happy parts of their life."

Dannika says the overwhelming support gives her motivation to keep sharing her journey. "Knowing that I can reach people just like me, gives me hope to keep posting my life journey with CF," she explained.

Her message to others facing the disease is powerful and clear. "Cystic fibrosis can take, take, and take, but you can fight back! With joy, patience, and doing EVERYTHING you can to stay as healthy as possible."
