Campbell Law Student Wins Scholarship, Teaches Taekwondo

Alyssa Zuckerman proves you can pursue justice in the courtroom and on the training mat at the same time.

The Holly Springs law student just received a 2026 Wake County Bar Association Foundation Memorial Scholarship, recognizing both her academic achievements at Campbell Law School and her remarkable commitment to teaching children. For nine years, she's worked as a Taekwondo instructor at Master Chang's Martial Arts in Cary, specializing in teaching kids with special needs and behavioral challenges.

"I have developed ways of explaining myself better due to the time I have spent in this role," Zuckerman shared on LinkedIn. She's trained in martial arts for 15 years and brings that expertise to every class she teaches.

Her law school resume is equally impressive. Zuckerman made the Academic Honor List in May 2025 and currently serves as an Associate Editor for Campbell Law Review while working as secretary for Women in Law and mentoring fellow students. Next year, she'll step up to Senior Articles Editor.

This summer, she's gaining real-world experience at Parker Bryan Family Law, where she's worked for a year helping with legal research and drafting important family law documents. The work aligns perfectly with her dual passions for advocacy and helping families navigate difficult transitions.

The Ripple Effect

The WCBA scholarship fund has been changing lives since 1989, awarding 84 scholarships totaling more than $284,000 to deserving law students with Wake County connections. These scholarships, funded through donations and the annual golf tournament, support students who demonstrate both academic excellence and a commitment to service.

Zuckerman joins a legacy of legal professionals who view law as "a calling to serve others," which has been Campbell Law's mission since 1976. The school has trained more than 5,000 alumni who now practice across all 50 states, many carrying forward that same spirit of service.

For a student who's spent nearly a decade helping children find their voice and confidence through martial arts, the scholarship represents recognition that the best lawyers bring compassion from every corner of their lives into their legal work.
