Canada's Charron and Dolci Capture Gold at Commonwealth Games

Canadian athletes are proving unstoppable at the Commonwealth Games, with two more gold medals lighting up the scoreboard in Glasgow.

Maude Charron dominated the women's 63-kilogram weightlifting category on Tuesday, earning her third Commonwealth Games title. The 33-year-old two-time Olympic medalist from Rimouski, Quebec lifted 102 kilograms in the snatch and 130 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a commanding total of 232 kilograms.

Her nearest competitor, England's Sarah Davies Smale, finished 15 kilograms behind with 217. Femily-Crystie Notte of Nauru claimed bronze with 216 kilograms.

Gymnast Félix Dolci made it a golden double for Canada with his performance in the men's vault final. The 24-year-old from Laval, Quebec scored an average of 13.766, edging out England's Luke Whitehouse by just 0.017 points in a nail-biting finish.

Dolci wasn't done yet. He added a bronze medal in the parallel bars with a score of 13.300, bringing his personal medal count to five for the competition and his gold tally to three.

Young gymnast Lia-Monica Fontaine kept Canada's momentum rolling with a bronze in the women's balance beam. The 16-year-old from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec scored 13.000, narrowly beating out Canadian teammate Ellie Black, who finished just off the podium with 12.966.
