Carson City's Free Fair Helps Entrepreneurs Launch Dreams
Carson City is hosting a free Small Business Resource Fair on May 5 to help aspiring entrepreneurs navigate the complex process of starting or growing their businesses. Financial experts, government agencies, and business advisors will offer guidance to turn business dreams into reality.
More than 60% of Americans dream of being their own boss, but most never take the leap because they don't know where to start.
Carson City is changing that. The Carson City Chamber of Commerce and Community and Economic Development Department are teaming up to host a free Small Business Resource Fair on Tuesday, May 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Carson City Community Center.
The event brings together financial institutions, government agencies, and small business experts under one roof. Aspiring entrepreneurs can get answers to crucial questions like what licenses they need, how to secure startup loans, and whether their business idea fits community needs.
The fair targets a growing group of new entrepreneurs. While people aged 35 to 54 remain the most likely to start businesses, the fastest growing segment is 55 to 64 year olds who are launching "second act" careers after retiring from government jobs.

Hope Sullivan, Carson City's Business Director, will lead a roundtable discussion at 10 a.m. addressing common challenges faced by small business owners. Attendees can connect with representatives from the Small Business Development Center, Nevada Secretary of State's office, Governor's Office of Economic Development, and local credit unions.
The Ripple Effect
The timing couldn't be better for Carson City. Essential home services like landscaping, cleaning, and handyman work remain in high demand as the community grows. Women owned businesses focusing on beauty, health, and personalized services are also expanding to serve new residents.
By removing barriers to entry, this fair doesn't just help individuals pursue their dreams. Every new business creates jobs, fills community needs, and strengthens the local economy. When entrepreneurs succeed, entire neighborhoods benefit from new services and opportunities.
The free event takes place at the Robert "Bob" Crowell Room, 851 E. William St. Whether you're contemplating your first business or ready to grow an existing one, expert guidance is just a conversation away.
