Charles Melton Becomes a Dad at 35 After Years of Hoping

Charles Melton spent years wondering if he'd ever become a father, but that dream finally came true when his daughter was born this March.

The 35-year-old actor, best known for playing Reggie Mantle on Riverdale, welcomed his first child with partner Camille Summers-Valli, a director and photographer. She announced her pregnancy in January, and Melton shared the joyful news of their daughter's arrival on Instagram weeks later.

"It's the best thing," Melton told Men's Health in a recent cover story. "But I never knew if that dream was going to happen, because you've got to meet the right person. And I did."

Growing up as a military kid, Melton moved constantly around the country and even lived in Germany for a time. Despite the nomadic childhood, or perhaps because of it, he always wanted to create a stable family of his own.

His career has been just as mobile, transitioning from teen drama heartthrob to serious actor. He's leading the second season of Netflix's hit series Beef and will headline an upcoming thriller from acclaimed director Nicolas Winding Refn.

But these days, Melton's proudest role doesn't involve a script. He's already sharing his love of music with his newborn daughter, playing Radiohead's "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" from their 2007 album In Rainbows for her.
