ChatGPT Launches Security Keys to Protect Your Conversations

OpenAI just launched Advanced Account Security, a new protection program that anyone can use for free. The company partnered with security provider Yubico to create special physical keys that plug into your computer and act like a digital lock for your account.

Think of it like a house key for your online conversations. Only the person holding the physical key can unlock the account, making it nearly impossible for hackers to break in remotely.

The timing matters because cybercriminals are increasingly targeting chatbot users. People share intimate details, work secrets, and personal information with AI assistants, creating a goldmine for bad actors looking to steal data or extort users.

The new YubiKeys come in two versions: one with wireless capability and a smaller nano version. When you try to log into ChatGPT, you'll need to insert the key into your computer's USB port to prove it's really you.
