Chennai Founder's AI App Helps 200,000 New Mothers
A product manager from Chennai built an AI-powered app that's now supporting over 200,000 women through pregnancy and motherhood. Raised by a single mother, she noticed how society expects women to become mothers without acknowledging the challenges they face.
Padmini Janaki watched her single mother navigate parenthood alone, and it sparked a question that would change hundreds of thousands of lives: Why does everyone expect women to become mothers, but nobody talks about how hard it actually is?
The Chennai-based product manager found her answer during a 2019 work trip to Nashville. She met young pregnant women who had no idea what parenthood would really demand of them, and she knew she had to do something.
Padmini spent the next year building a solution. In 2021, she launched Livf.women (originally called Mind&Mom), an AI-powered app designed to guide women through every stage of motherhood, from deciding to start a family through pregnancy and beyond.
The startup caught attention fast. It won a Rs 10 lakh grant from StartupTN's TANSEED 2021 initiative, validating Padmini's vision that technology could transform maternal healthcare.
Today, the app has helped over 200,000 women navigate their fertility journeys. It offers mental and physical health support whether women are considering IVF or natural pregnancy methods.

"Women don't always have someone to guide them," Padmini explains. "Livf.women is built to guide women from the moment they decide to start a family, whether it is through IVF or natural means."
The AI features go deep. Women can track their menstrual cycles, receive personalized health advice, and connect with trusted IVF clinics. The app even provides information about financial support options for fertility treatments.
The Ripple Effect
Padmini's work is filling a gap that affects millions of Indian women. By democratizing access to maternal health information and support, she's helping women make informed choices about one of life's biggest decisions.
The technology keeps evolving too. "It is fascinating the way AI has evolved and can support very advanced features on the app," says Padmini. "Things have changed immensely when it comes to reproductive health because of technology."
What started as one woman noticing her mother's struggles has become a lifeline for 200,000 women who now have the guidance and support they deserve.
