China EV Exports Double as World Goes Electric

Electric cars are taking over the world faster than anyone predicted, and the latest numbers from China prove it.

In May 2026, China exported 809,000 passenger vehicles, a stunning 73% jump from last year. More than half of those cars were electric or plug-in hybrids, with EV exports alone more than doubling to 435,000 vehicles.

The global picture looks even brighter. One in four new cars sold worldwide last year was electric, according to the International Energy Agency. This year, EVs could reach nearly 30% of all car sales, hitting 23 million vehicles.
