Coast Guard Saves 7 from Sinking Boat Off Georgia Coast

When a U.S. Coast Guard crew from Station Tybee began their routine patrol Saturday afternoon, they had no idea they were heading straight toward seven people in serious danger.

The crew spotted a Good Samaritan already towing a vessel with seven passengers aboard. The boat was taking on water fast.

The Coast Guard immediately transferred a dewatering pump and one crew member onto the struggling vessel to help control the flooding. As water continued rising, they worked quickly to assess just how bad the situation had become.

Working side by side with the Good Samaritan, the Coast Guard crew made the call to transfer all seven passengers to safety aboard their patrol boat. Once everyone was secure, they established a side tow of the damaged vessel.

The rescue team safely transported the boat and all seven passengers to the Houlihan Boat Ramp in Georgia. Everyone made it to shore without injury.
