Colorado Town Hosts Free EV Test Drive Event Sept. 26

Colorado mountain town residents will get behind the wheel of electric vehicles without any sales pressure at a community event next week.

The Western Resilience Center, City of Steamboat Springs, and Clean Energy Economy for the Region are hosting a free electric vehicle showcase on September 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series parking lot. Locals can test drive models from Tesla, Lucid, Kia, and other manufacturers while chatting with current EV owners about real-world experiences.

The event tackles one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption: lack of firsthand experience. Many potential buyers never get the chance to drive an electric vehicle before making a purchase decision.

Test drive slots are available throughout the day, and the timing couldn't be better. The event coincides with the final Steamboat Springs Farmers Market of the year, creating a festival atmosphere where families can shop for local produce and explore clean transportation in one trip.

For those wanting deeper knowledge, organizers are offering an Electric Vehicle 101 workshop from 9 to 10 a.m. in the upstairs meeting room at Howelsen Hill Ice Arena. The session will cover everything from charging basics to available rebates that can significantly reduce purchase costs.
