Comedian Kountry Wayne Turns 10 Kids Into Comedy Gold

Kountry Wayne never needed to write jokes because his life with 10 children practically writes the material for him.

The Georgia comedian, born Dewayne Jamarr Colley in small-town Millen, went from posting Instagram sketches in 2014 to headlining sold-out shows across the country. He gained 1 million followers in less than a year, turning everyday family chaos into relatable comedy gold.

Wayne's approach stands out in today's comedy scene. He doesn't drink, smoke, or swear on stage, but he's not afraid to get real about his unconventional family dynamics. When one of his exes got a tooth knocked out and started whistling, he couldn't resist telling the story onstage, comparing her to a referee.

"She got mad, but I got her teeth fixed, so we're good," Wayne said with a laugh.

His second stand-up special "Nostalgia," released on Prime Video, aims to bring back pure comedy without political agendas or trying to be edgy. Wayne draws inspiration from legends like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle while carving out his own lane focused on storytelling that makes everyone feel included.

"I'm trying to bring back just comedy, man," Wayne explained. "Just making people laugh, not trying to be controversial. People escaping from their bills and their heartaches and pains."

Why This Inspires

Fatherhood transformed Wayne from day one. Having 10 kids didn't scatter his focus but sharpened it, giving him motivation to take big swings in his career because young lives depended on him.

"I got another human being that's hungry and needs some money, needs some clothes, needs guidance, needs inspiration," Wayne said. He makes sure his children see him treat his work seriously, never wasting a minute when he walks out the door.

But Wayne credits more than hard work for his rise. Growing up in a town where residents are satisfied with "backyard barbecues, playing cards and eating coon and rabbits," he held onto his faith through every struggle.

"There's no way you can have come from where I come from, that small town, to be where you're at now," Wayne reflected. "Only thing I had then that I still got now, I always had my faith, and that's what got me through."

His clean lifestyle wasn't born from willpower after fame arrived but from values he solidified long before the spotlight found him. Growing up around drug use made staying away from substances easy, even with success.

Fame hasn't changed him much, Wayne insists. Now he gets to experience comedy royalty like Sebastian Maniscalco and Nate Bargatze while staying true to his roots and making audiences laugh about the beautiful messiness of real family life.
