The 37-year-old musician shared with fans this week that he's three days sober after relapsing on opioids following a freak golf cart accident in June. Kelly broke his arm badly when he overcorrected the vehicle and flipped it, requiring multiple powerful pain medications including morphine, fentanyl, and a month-long prescription for Percocet.

"I needed it for the level 15 pain but very quickly they started running out sooner and sooner," Kelly wrote honestly on Instagram, holding up a gold Narcotics Anonymous token. He admitted to chewing pills in the pharmacy parking lot and hiding how much he was taking from loved ones.

Kelly had been clean from amphetamines since 2021 and believed he only struggled with that specific drug. He thought he could safely use alcohol, THC, and other substances without issue. The prescription painkillers from his injury "awakened something I hadn't felt in a very long time."

On July 26, Kelly made a pivotal decision. He admitted to himself that he has a substance abuse disease that applies to all drugs and alcohol, not just the ones he'd struggled with before.
