Credit Union Volunteers Prep 505 Meals for Maryland Kids

Nine credit union employees traded their desks for aprons on July 23, joining the Maryland Food Bank to prepare more than 505 meals for local students and families.

The volunteer team from Securityplus Federal Credit Union worked alongside food bank staff to package nutritious meals that will reach children in Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County schools. For many of these students, reliable access to healthy food can mean the difference between struggling and succeeding in the classroom.

"Volunteering with the Maryland Food Bank gave our team the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of local students and families," said Danielle Warren, Community Impact Coordinator at Securityplus Federal Credit Union. The hands-on work allowed employees to see exactly where their effort was going and who it would help.

Food insecurity affects thousands of Maryland families, making partnerships between local organizations essential. The Maryland Food Bank, founded in 1979, has built an extensive network of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other programs across the state to combat hunger where it exists.

Those 505 meals represent more than just food on plates. They're part of a larger safety net that helps children focus on learning instead of hunger, supports parents stretching tight budgets, and strengthens entire communities.
