Dad Reunites With Late Father's Beagle After 10 Years

When Chris Becker's phone rang this summer, he never expected to hear about his late father's dog again.

More than 10 years had passed since Becker's father died, leaving his beloved beagle Rosie with his girlfriend in Maryland. Becker eventually lost touch with both of them, and Rosie became a distant memory from a difficult time.

Then iHeart Dog Rescue in Florida called with news that seemed impossible. They had a 12-year-old beagle whose microchip traced back to him.

Cindy Mucciaccio, president of the rescue, explained that a woman had surrendered Rosie after receiving her from someone else. The woman simply couldn't keep her, so the shelter scanned Rosie's chip and tracked down Becker.

Nobody knows how Rosie traveled from Maryland to Hollywood, Florida, a 15-hour drive. But someone along the way clearly took good care of her.

When Becker flew down to meet her at Cool Cuts in Pompano Beach, he almost didn't recognize his father's dog. "Her face is so gray," he told WPLG Local 10, "but when I saw those eyes, I recognized those eyes."

The reunion became even sweeter when Becker met Storm, another dog at the shelter who had arrived severely emaciated. The two bonded immediately, and Becker decided to adopt him too.
