Dad Spends Year Recording Baby to Remake 'Thunderstruck

Matt MacMillan didn't just record his baby's first words. He captured a year's worth of sounds to manually recreate one of rock's most iconic songs, and the result is absolutely jaw-dropping.

The video editor and dad spliced together tiny snippets of baby Ryan's giggles, squeals, and babbles to make AC/DC's "Thunderstruck." Every note is authentically baby, with no autotune or digital tricks involved.

The process was as ambitious as it sounds. MacMillan went through each video clip of Ryan, organizing them by pitch and figuring out what notes they were. He even turned a sneeze into a cymbal crash.

Perhaps most impressively, MacMillan doesn't really read music and didn't know the notes of "Thunderstruck" to begin with. He had to pluck the song out on the piano first, then match those notes with his baby's sounds. As he put it simply: "It took forever."

The internet has fallen in love with the result. One viewer joked that Ryan should record an adult version in 17 years singing over the same instrumentals. Another quipped that MacMillan "had a kid just so he could make this song."

One residential plumber shared that after a brutal 13-hour shift, the video made him "smile laugh and giggle like a small baby." That's the kind of pure joy this project delivers.

This isn't MacMillan's first baby cover either. He previously created "Carol of the Bells" using his daughter Ella's sounds with the same manual, pitch-perfect technique.
