😊 Feel Good

A homegrown African company just proved that local brands can compete with global giants. Dangote Industries has been crowned Africa's most admired brand for the eighth year running, offering hope for economic independence across the continent.

Dangote Industries has achieved something remarkable in a marketplace dominated by foreign brands: it's been named Africa's most admired brand for the eighth consecutive year.

The recognition came at the 16th annual Brand Africa 100 rankings in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The survey covered 30 countries representing more than 85 percent of Africa's population and economic output, making it the continent's most comprehensive consumer-led brand study.

Dangote topped the rankings in aided recall, beating South Africa's MTN and Vodacom. The company also earned the number one spot as the African brand contributing most to a better Africa, thanks to its investments in cement, fertilizer, petrochemicals, energy, and other essential industries.

The achievement stands out even more when you consider the odds. Homegrown African brands account for just 15 percent of the continent's top 100 most admired brands, while European brands hold 38 percent, North American brands 28 percent, and Asian brands 19 percent.

Anthony Chiejina, Dangote's Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, also received recognition as one of Africa's 100 most influential chief marketing officers. He was among only 20 executives selected from West Africa for the inaugural honor.

The Ripple Effect

Dangote's success represents more than corporate achievement. It's creating jobs, driving industrialization, and proving that African companies can build world-class brands that resonate with local consumers.

Brand Africa Founder Thebe Ikalafeng emphasized the stakes: "It is not enough for Africans to believe in Africa, they must buy Made-in-Africa." Converting goodwill into brand loyalty could unlock massive economic opportunities across the continent.

The company also ranked second among brands recognized for doing good for society, people, and environment. Last year, Dangote Industries was inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame, and its founder Aliko Dangote received a Lifetime Achievement Award for championing industrialization.

Alongside MTN and Ethiopian Airlines, Dangote stands as proof that African brands can hold their own against global names like Nike, Samsung, and Coca-Cola. That's a win worth celebrating eight years running.
