DC's National Mall Hosts All 50 States for America's 250th
A 16-day celebration bringing all 50 states and six U.S. territories together will transform Washington D.C.'s National Mall this June. The Great American State Fair marks 250 years of American history with a 110-foot Ferris wheel, state pavilions, and cultural exhibits stretching from the Capitol to the Washington Monument.
This summer, the National Mall will host what might be the biggest family reunion in American history.
Starting June 25, all 50 states and six U.S. territories will gather in Washington D.C. for the Great American State Fair, a 16-day celebration marking America's 250th anniversary. The event transforms the iconic stretch between the Capitol and Washington Monument into a massive fairground complete with a 110-foot Ferris wheel, state pavilions, and attractions showcasing what makes each corner of the country special.
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum announced that every state received a personal invitation from the White House to participate. Each will set up its own pavilion featuring local food, culture, and traditions.
"This summer, the Great American State Fair will bring that spirit to life on the National Mall," said Freedom250 CEO Keith Krach, whose nonpartisan organization is helping coordinate the celebration. The fair celebrates "the ingenuity, perseverance, and pride that define America."

The fairgrounds will feature five themed areas: Made in America, American Heartland, American Innovates, The American Canvas, and Faith & Family. Visitors can also enjoy the refurbished Smithsonian carousel and attend special events like Military Appreciation Day and Wings of Freedom celebrations.
This isn't America's first rodeo with world's fair-style events. The U.S. has hosted over two dozen similar celebrations since Philadelphia kicked off the tradition in 1876, according to the State Department.
The Ripple Effect
Beyond the Ferris wheel rides and state fair food, this gathering creates something rare in modern America: a chance for people from every state and territory to share their stories in one place. When a family from Alaska sets up next to neighbors from Florida, and Puerto Rico shares space with Wyoming, it's a living reminder of the country's incredible diversity.
The event also gives smaller states and territories a spotlight they rarely receive on the national stage. Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa will showcase their unique cultures alongside their mainland counterparts.
For 16 days, the National Mall becomes a place where differences get celebrated rather than debated, and where what unites 50 distinct places matters more than what divides them.
