Defiance County Fund Grows to Support Undecided Students

Choosing a career path at 18 is tough, but the Next Chapter Scholarship Fund believes students shouldn't have to know their whole future to get financial help.

The Defiance Area Foundation just received a $1,000 donation from longtime supporter Deb Hench to grow this newly established scholarship. The fund specifically supports graduating seniors in Defiance County who want to continue their education but haven't committed to a specific field yet.

Students can use the scholarship whether they're heading to trade school, community college, or a four-year university. The fund gives preference to students with financial need, recognizing that uncertainty about the future shouldn't stand between young people and their potential.

The Foundation is working toward a $25,000 goal that will allow them to award a $1,000 scholarship every single year without depleting the fund. This sustainable approach means generations of Defiance County students will get support as they figure out their next steps.
