Korean Actor Quietly Donates $3M Over 15 Years

A Korean actress has been quietly changing lives for 15 years, and the world is just finding out now.

Shin Min-a has donated more than $3 million to charity since 2009, supporting burn victims, children from low-income families, and disaster relief efforts across South Korea. Foundation representatives only recently revealed her generosity after she specifically asked them never to publicize it.

"Large sums continued to arrive every month since 2009, and I eventually found out they were from Shin Min-a," one foundation representative shared. The source initially thought the money had been deposited by mistake.

Shin requested that her donations cover expensive medical treatments for burn patients and fund educational programs for disadvantaged children. Since 2015, more than 200 burn patients have received help through her contributions to the Hallym Burn Foundation alone.

Her charitable work extends far beyond medical care. She has supported elderly people living alone, North Korean defectors adjusting to new lives, and communities recovering from natural disasters throughout the country.

The couple even celebrated their wedding day last December by donating $220,000 to several organizations. Instead of focusing only on their special day, they chose to make it meaningful for people they would never meet.

"I hope my support reaches those who might otherwise go without help," Shin said in a previous interview. She believes when influential people give publicly, it encourages others to contribute too.
