Delhi Offers Free Buses for 160,000 NEET Retakers

When 160,000 students across India have to retake the most important exam of their lives, every little bit of support helps.

Delhi's government announced free bus rides on all city transit for students retaking the NEET medical entrance exam on June 21. Students just need to show their exam admit card to ride without paying.

The gesture comes after India's National Testing Agency cancelled the May 3 exam following allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recognized the real toll on families. "Many candidates are having to appear for the test again, and in such a situation, it is natural for candidates and their families to face additional mental, financial and time-related pressure," she said.

The announcement follows a similar move by Punjab's government, showing how regional leaders are stepping up where national systems stumbled.
