$1B Solar Plant Brings 1,200 Jobs to Indiana

Southern Indiana just became home to one of North America's most advanced solar manufacturing plants, and it's bringing serious economic firepower with it.

CS PowerTech opened the first phase of its massive solar cell factory in Jeffersonville this month. The facility represents nearly $1 billion in local investment and will eventually employ more than 1,200 people in skilled manufacturing, engineering, and technical roles.

This isn't your average factory. The plant produces next-generation heterojunction bifacial solar cells, some of the most efficient technology available today. These advanced cells capture sunlight from both sides, generating more power than traditional panels.

The Indiana plant connects directly to CS PowerTech's module factory in Mesquite, Texas, creating a fully American supply chain for solar energy. That means fewer delays, lower costs, and more reliability for projects across the country.

"Jeffersonville is a cornerstone of our strategy to build one of North America's most advanced energy manufacturing supply chains," said Rusty Schmit, president of CS PowerTech. The company plans to start phase two expansion before year's end, adding even more capacity.

Governor Mike Braun celebrated the announcement, noting it strengthens Indiana's position in advanced manufacturing while creating good-paying jobs for local workers.
