Dubai Completes World's First Flying Taxi Station

The Gulf city completed construction of the world's first dedicated flying taxi station this week, a four-story facility designed specifically for electric aircraft that take off and land vertically. California-based Joby Aviation will operate the flights exclusively for six years, with commercial operations expected to begin before 2026 ends. The company specializes in electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, essentially quiet, emission-free flying vehicles that could revolutionize how people move through crowded cities.

The facility can handle up to 170,000 passengers annually, serving as the main hub for air taxi operations in Dubai. Three additional stations are already in the planning stages, suggesting the city envisions a network of sky-high transit options.
