Egypt Awards First-Ever National Startup Label to Flend

Egypt's startup ecosystem just hit a major milestone that could reshape how entrepreneurs build businesses across the country.

Flend, a digital financing platform that helps small and medium businesses access capital, became the first company ever to receive Egypt's National Startup Label. The certification comes from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency under Egypt's newly established National Startup Charter, a framework designed to give startups clear recognition and support.

The label isn't just a badge of honor. Companies that receive it gain access to real benefits: fast-tracked government processes, incentives, and direct connections to investors and partners who can help them scale.

"The Startup Label is a powerful validation of our innovation-driven model and our commitment to supporting SME growth," said Nehal Helmy, co-founder of Flend. The company uses technology and data to make financing accessible to businesses that traditionally struggle to secure funding from banks.

Egypt designed the program to solve a common problem in emerging tech hubs: without clear standards, investors struggle to identify legitimate startups, and entrepreneurs can't access the resources they need. The National Startup Charter creates that structure.
