Denmark's team physician confirmed the device "responded as it should." The quick activation of the ICD allowed Eriksen to receive immediate treatment and avoid a more serious medical emergency.

After his 2021 cardiac arrest, Eriksen had to leave Inter Milan because Italian regulations prohibit players with ICDs from competing. He resumed his career in England with Brentford in 2022, then played three seasons at Manchester United before joining German club Wolfsburg last year.
