Ethiopia and UAE Build 1,086 Apartments in Addis Ababa

Ethiopia is getting a major boost to its housing and economic development thanks to a new partnership that broke ground in Addis Ababa this week.

The Ethiopian Army Foundation and UAE-based Reportage Properties launched a mixed-use development project that will transform 23,000 square meters of land into two residential towers with 1,086 apartments. The project also includes 15,000 square meters of commercial space, recreational facilities, and landscaped green areas.

Martha Luwigi, Chairperson of the Ethiopian Army Foundation Board, said the development will create jobs and improve living standards for residents. She emphasized that the project brings modern construction technologies and expertise to Ethiopia while stimulating investment in Addis Ababa.

The partnership represents growing economic ties between Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates. It brings together an Ethiopian institution with an international developer that operates in 25 countries and employs nearly 15,000 people globally.

Reportage Properties has already hired more than 70 local employees for the project. Andrea Nucera, the company's CEO, made their commitment clear: "We will be an Ethiopian company operating in Ethiopia."

The company has delivered more than 55,000 units worldwide and currently has about 45,000 units under development. Their experience and scale could help accelerate similar projects across the country.

This development goes beyond just new buildings. The project creates a potential model for attracting quality international investment to Ethiopia and demonstrates growing investor confidence in the country's future.
